Specifications is the Real Source Code

In my own work, I notice that the most important decisions happen long before any implementation begins. I now spend more energy shaping RFCs, product documents, and design notes than crafting pull requests. When the problem is well understood and the direction is agreed upon, implementation often becomes the simplest step in the whole process.
